Where Are We Going?

My community neighbors are a good source for thought and perspective.
Lately there has been a general stopping of the ears because they are tired of hearing how bad everything is. In deference I try real hard to remain quiet, but marvel at their daily approach to life based on little more than what is this weeks events.
It appears that if it happened last year, it was the past, and has no relation to what is happening today. If the price of gas is more than it was last week, then it is high, and if it is lower than last week, then it is low.
This microcosm world view results in a slave mentality;

“I am content to exist in the now with no expectations. Today I am happy to live in the circumstances in which I find myself.”

They apparently see me as the unhappy individual always complaining about the way things are.
Although their perspective appears to them to be the most reasonable attitude to produce happiness, It is very short sighted and leaves the circumstances of tomorrow's life, up to “someone” else entirely.
Yet even these people are still alert enough to keep an eye on their gas gauge.

Why is that?
Because their gas tank is small enough to provide an unfavorable result within their week long, microcosm mentality!
Who provides the gas? They don’t know.
What determines the gas price? They don’t know.
What will happen if the gas is no longer available, or you can't afford it? That won’t happen.
Why? They don’t know.

This morning at the coffee shop I asked the locals if they remembered, as kids in the 70s, that most the stores and businesses in America were closed on Sundays. My discussion was going to center on why? But they could not even remember clearly.
At first they said they did, but when thinking about it they began to remember eating out on Sundays, and began to be confused in thought, and within less than 5 minutes they were no longer able to remember that any businesses were ever closed on Sundays except maybe a few fanatical religious business owners.
I grew up in a bible believing family, and although I too remember eating out occasionally on Sunday, I also remember thinking it strange that generally the business streets were empty and quiet on Sundays, the one day that everybody was not at work!
I remember as a child realizing this must be a religious reason, because it was not actually financially smart.
I remember the first time the local mall opened on Sunday to a few of the stores that demanded it, and walking through the mall seeing most the storefronts dark with the chain-mail style gates rolled down and locked tight.
My neighbors replied, they only try to remember “important stuff.”

With thought patters as uncomplicated as this, how are we to evaluate our existence?
Is it good or bad, is it getting better or worse, if we like it now, how can we know it will be just as good next week? And if it gets worse, how much worse can it actually get?

But even more important than these questions is;
“Why don’t we care to think about it?”

Why have I linked here Socialism, Communism, Marxism, Progressivism, Obamaism, Nazism and Islam? Because they all have the same goals in the end; The destruction of Freedom, and Christianity, the very foundations of America. If the goals are the same, it can be said the spirit is the same. If the Spirit of America is Christianity, then the enemy spirit must be the enemy of our God. That enemy is Satan himself presenting under slightly different masks.

How bad can it actually get here in America? Just look to the ism nations through world history. Where Communism, Marxism and Islam rule, the death count always ends up in the millions…. By intention and design!

Oh wait, that won’t be here this week, so don’t worry about it!
