What Now?

post 114

So the conservatives took majority control of the House, but failed to take majority in the Senate. What does this mean? *1
It means of course that virtually every decision will be run through the meat grinder, and anything that is achieved will need to be by the agreement of both the Liberals and the Conservatives. There is not much chance the volume will be high.

In a healthy government and nation this is a good thing, because that very concept reduces the plethora of bills that a lop-sided congress tends to pass.
Our founders intended government to be forced to struggle at every law they passed because the idea was to restrict the government to the very clear and significantly important. Only those laws which both Conservatives and Liberals can agree are needful, will be passes. A balanced congress by its nature creates a limited government.
But in a sick government and nation this is not necessarily good.
Our system was designed to allow for this.

When things get so bad that both Liberals and Conservatives are able to agree we need a serious change from what we have, the people end up unknowingly collectively voting to lop-side the Congress allowing them to make unhindered choices in the hopes of solving the problems.
This is what happened when G.W. Bush took office from Bill Clinton.
In the 2004 Clinton midterm elections the Republicans took majority control of the House for the first time since 1954! and Majority in the Senate as well.*2 but failed to do anything for 4 years. They were called the "Do Nothing Congress." The Democrats were voted to takeback both House and Senate in 2006.

President Bush is clearly the fall guy for the present Administration. But what never seems to come to light is that both the House and the Senate were controlled by the Liberals since 2006, *3 AFTER a short spell of a Conservative Congress that the left themselves say did nothing!
So why does the conservative president get the blame for all the spending which the liberal congress did in his 2nd term? Did he really spend us so far in debt in his first four years of doing nothing, that it takes Trillions to “bail us out”? Where are the facts to back this up?
Like every boss, he gets the burden of responsibility whether it was his fault or not, But who really ran the economy into the ditch as Mr. Obama likes to declare?
So we went directly from four years of a lop-sided liberal congress,(both House and Senate) under Bush, to an extremely lop-sided liberal government; which included the courts and the acting president (Obama) as Liberals too.
Then in his first year, our congress no longer having any roadblocks, plunged America into more debt than all the previous administrations did combined! But somehow this is G.W.Bush’s fault.

My point is not to turn my blog into a political argument but to show the design of a great system that has been run for some time by unwise men, from both parties.
After at least 17 years of an improperly lop-sided congress we have a real problem on our hands.
A properly balanced congress cannot fix the problems we have now, as my previous cartoon post suggests.

Both parties now know that America is in the ditch in very serious peril, but how to fix it is a bone of contention that cannot be mutually agreed. Back in the day, both Republicans and Democrats knew the foundational principles of scripture which would make a nation successful, even though they tended toward polar sides of applying those principles.
Today the Republicans are struggling with scriptural Alzheimer's, while the Democrats are selling out whole hog to ideas diametrically opposed to scripture.
A balanced congress would never have gotten us into this place.
But now a balanced congress cannot get us out. and we have seen by 17 years experience that a lop-sided one can't either!

So what now?
Frankly I don’t know. And neither does congress.

Here is a short list of things that should be far more important than even our budget:

1- Remove the pretend President and vote in a Constitutionally eligible one.
2- Seal the borders from illegals with every thing we’ve got including militia and technology.
Then export virtually every illegal alien found.
3- Ensure our taxes do not increase as they are guaranteed to do if congress does not act.
4- Repeal all foundation changing bills. Including Homeland security, US Patriot act, Stimulus, Tarp, Cap and Trade, Obama Care, etc etc.
5- Cut off virtually all government programs that do not fall clearly within the US Constitution’s scope of authorization. Then let the people themselves figure out how to fix their own problems.
This would be a very painful but good start yet would not immediately fix all our problems.
Not unlike the doctor cutting off 2 legs and 4 yards of intestines in the effort to save a life from cancer. Sure that isn’t desirable… Until you’re other option is death.
By cutting up the government’s credit card and getting it out of the way of the people, America could recover even if maimed.

But this is a right wing conservative whacko view, and would never pass the liberal Senate.
So as my cartoon indicated, both parties are fighting over the steering wheel, but we are going nowhere!

Obama has to be smoking crack to have publicly stated the Republicans drove the car into the ditch, and now the Liberals had gotten the car (national economy) back on the pavement. *4
But if you want to believe you can spend yourself out of debt as his vice president does,*5 then I’m not sure crack is strong enough!

This present dilemma is the scenario represented by Uzzah the Priest and the falling Ark of the Covenant. Left with what you have to work with, no matter what you try, there are no good choices. *6 At this point there are simply no right answers, which we would consider, and those would be very expensive in more ways than money.
Yes, The reasonably successful Tea Party has tremendously slowed our freefall, not unlike putting out your arms when falling from a plane with no parachute.

So what seems to be next, beyond the obvious?

I have been working on that for some time, but am still not sure how to write down all the groundwork needed for it to make sense.
Yet this is what I will attempt to do, and in the process will cover a bit more detail suggested in my Babylon Cliff Notes post *7

I am reminded by the obvious failure of my post titled; “Analysis” that I should stick to interpretation and avoid speculation. Frankly I openly admit that one was a bad shot. But I do not intend to remove it at this time because I openly own my mistakes and take my licks not wanting to appear to “guide” my results as benefits me.
Later at some point I will remove it because it only serves to muddy the water of an otherwise very sound interpretation.

So leaving our government to lead themselves around at the bottom of the ditch, we will move on into what we can expect from our future according to the scriptures.
