Life Is A Story

post 090

Life is a story. But whose story is it?
That is the question of questions.

Is it your story? Through your eyes you sure seem to be the star. From your perspective it is all about you. It must be your story.

But what happens after you die?
Life goes on.
And sadly, the world will hardly know you are gone.
Life is not your story, though you are a character in a small sub-plot.
No, Life is not your story.

Is it the story of a great nation?
Which great nation?
America sure seems to have played a huge role in the past 200 years.
The Industrial Revolution that has made life far better than it was for most the world, is an event in time by her Glory days.
The concept of freedom now spreading through the globe, is a result of her preaching the values of Jesus Christ, and her example in practice for the first 150 years.

But is life America’s story?
Clearly now, in the end of her very short influential era, her fight for the last few breaths has the world in turmoil. But when she is gone, will the world end?
No, Life is not America’s story.

How about Israel?
Is life the story of Israel?
This tiny troubled nation sure has a knack for endurance in time.
What other nation has been kicked around by so many nations for as long as she has?
Been completely conquered and taken as slaves into so many nations, so many times?
Been on the list for utter annihilation by many nations through time, with no means to stop it? Yet remains to this day?
Clearly the people of Israel are a main character in the Holy Scriptures of God.
Surely Life is the Story of Israel.

But clearly there are huge gaps of time where she played no part in world events, For thousands of years at a time she was forgotten, but Life goes on.
Life is not the story of Israel.

And on and on we can search.

Who’s story is the story of life?
The story of life is History past, present, and future.
God is the author.
The Bible is the script.
We are the actors.
But who is the Star?
What is the story about?

From cover to cover,
Beginning to end.
Life is the story of Jesus the Messiah, come to save humanity.
It is all about Jesus.

History is His-Story.
Read it!

Being characters in this story
, we all play our parts.
Some of us have bigger roles, some of us quite small,
But each of us has a part, and each of us plays it.

This is no small budget movie, this is the role of a lifetime!
The plot is clearly laid out, and many sub-plots as well.
But the script is so well written that the players are allowed an interactive role with the script, creating sub-plots of sub-plots, or micro plots.

We can choose our sides. We can allay with whom we want.
We can play a villain or a saint, or any role we like.
We can minimize our character by petty lives, insignificant to the overall story, or magnify our character by choosing roles in the bigger sub-plots.
And still, as we read the script it has already included these variables!

(cue dramatic music)
This is a story of stories!
The best there is!
The longest and most complex of all stories!
Heck, it IS all stories.

In such a play, of such enormous billing,
Wouldn’t you think the actors would want to pre-read the script to play the best part they can, Micro plot as it may be?

How does your character fit into the big picture?
If you read the script, each of us has the chance for a surprise appearance with the Star in the end!
all depending on how you play your part.

Read it!

Addendum 10/17/2010
Knowing that God has a great knack for secrets hidden behind tiny clues for us to discover, I began asking the question; "What happened to the second S in History as it is the compilation of His Story?"
So I broke the word down into its segments and clearly saw the t representing the Cross of Calvary in the very center of the words; His t Ory.
So of course I asked myself, what is an Ory?

Websters Collegiate Dictionary 1948:
Ory: An adjective suffix meaning of or pertaining to, serving for,
A noun suffix denoting place of or for, or that which pertains to or serves for,

Clearly an Ory is an addition of service to a concept.
Now His-T-Ory means: Jesus' act of service to the big picture, of which the cross is the center.

Not preaching theology, just an interesting observation!
